Simi Valley Girls Softball provides a fun, competitive and enriching opportunity for more than 500 girls to play fast pitch softball each year. The cost of running our program is substantial and subsidizing many of these costs is dependent on our Snack Bar operations at Big Sky Park fields during the regular season. It is essential to our League's success that the Snack Bar be well run and consistently staffed.
Part of the obligation of each parent having a child in the Simi Valley Girls Softball League is to work in the Snack Bar. Snack Bar shifts are mandatory for all parents. We consider this obligation so important that, in addition to the registration fee, the League requires a Snack Bar deposit of $75.00 per player to ensure compliance with each parents Snack Bar obligation. The fee will be returned at the end of the season if the obligation is met.
If a parent fails to meet his or her obligation the fee will be forfeited to the League. Please note that merely showing up does not mean the obligation to work in the Snack Bar has been met. Meeting the obligation means actually working in the Snack Bar during the assigned shift without distraction or other interference. You will be required to sign-in at the beginning of your shift and to sign-out at the end of your shift. If a parent chooses to buy-out their Snack Bar duty, they will forfeit their $75.00 deposit so the League can pay another person to work. Eligible workers for the Snack Bar must be adults. Trained and approved teens will be scheduled only by the Snack Bar Directors. No children are permitted in the Snack Bar.
If, for any reason, a parent has difficulty with a scheduled shift or is unable to make a shift (except, of course, due to extraordinary circumstances), it is the parents’ obligation to notify the both the Team Parent and the Snack Bar Directors. Failure to work your registered shift will result in the forfeit of your Snack Bar deposit.
Each parent must work a total of four (4) hours per child. Shifts are broken out into two (2) hours each. You will be able to schedule your shifts online at the SVGS website once the season schedules have been set. Once you have scheduled your shifts, you will be unable to make changes, so please be aware of this when signing up. Last year people changed their shift at the last minute and left the Snack Bar short handed.
Please be advised that the Snack Bar is being monitored by a 24-hour surveillance camera.
If you have any questions or problems during Snack Bar hours, please contact Snack Bar Directors: Erin Moran 818-679-3831 or Michele Fowble 818-634-5620. You may also email us at svgssnackbar@gmail.com
Thank you in advance for your support and acknowledgement of this policy and your willingness to contribute to the success of Simi Valley Girls Softball.
We look forward to a great season.
